Johnson & johnson announced plans to separate our consumer health business to create a new publicly traded companyThe process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 24 months, and it will be subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as required, and other customary conditions and approvals.
It is anticipated that following conclusion of the transaction, this position may be conveyed with new consumer healthIn that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to the successful candidate by new consumer health at an appropriate time and would be subject to any necessary consultation processes.
As lead corporate & procurement counsel, you will oversee defining and designing the strategic framework and overall support for the consumer health law department’s global corporate and procurement legal workAdditional aspects of the role include drafting and negotiating key procurement contracts for consumer health, designing new contracting policies, playbooks, and procedures to streamline the procurement contracting process, and leading and training the corporate and procurement attorneys supporting consumer healthA positive attitude and the skills to work across business functions and cultures with teams located in multiple time zones, as well as the ability to act independently in a fast-paced and highly rewarding environment, will be expected of candidates.
Key responsibilities include:
Working with consumer health law department leaders to define the strategic framework and overall support model for consumer health’s corporate and procurement legal support.
Leading the corporate & procurement legal team with responsibility for providing legal support to consumer health’s corporate and procurement functions, including consumer health’s corporate, procurement, facilities, real estate and leasing, and other corporate functions.
Managing the team of attorneys supporting our global corporate and procurement functions in na, emea, and aspac, including mentoring, training, goal setting, and performance feedback
Serving as a subject matter expert for complex procurement transactional issues and providing direct support in the drafting and negotiating of contractual arrangements that are material to the consumer organization
Resolving legal and contractual issues escalated by team members
Recruiting, hiring, and training additional corporate and procurement team members and/or contractors where required
Managing projects relating to the creation of modern technologies, policies, processes, and templates, as well as new training and escalation procedures
Working closely with relevant business partners to understand their needs and advising on issues from a legal, contracting, and strategic perspective
Collaborating with other attorneys, business partners, and subject matter experts as appropriate to ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures
Managing outside counsel relationships, workflows, and budgets
A juris doctor degree and admission to the bar in good standing in at least one u.sJurisdiction or a current license and certification to practice as a lawyer in an appropriate emea jurisdiction.
A minimum of 8 years of corporate law experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house law department with experience in drafting and negotiating complex contractual arrangements, including marketing agreements, media agreements, services agreements, consulting agreements, vendor agreements, construction agreements, and vehicle leasing agreements.
Excellent collaborative skills along with strong ethical leadership, including the ability to coordinate seamlessly with other consumer health attorneys, external counsel, business leaders, functional experts, and other advisors.
Strong communication, leadership, relationship management, negotiation, and organizational skillsHealthcare and/or consumer products work experience.
Experience providing legal direct support to the j&j supply chain and procurement functions.
Familiarity with real estate and leasing transactions and issues.
A positive attitude and the skills to work across business functions and cultures with teams located in multiple time zones, as well as the ability to act independently in a fast-paced and highly rewarding environment.
People management experience.
