Position Overview:
Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) is looking for Associate Structural Analysis Engineer to work in areas such as Structural Test & Flight Test Instrumentation for the existing and future production aircraft testing purposes. This position will be located in the Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center, Bangalore, India and reports to the Manager – Structures Test, Boeing Test & Evaluation India.
Position Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will perform the following duties:
· Responsible for performing structural analysis of wide range of mechanical structures and products of various aircraft test programs.
· Performs detailed structural analysis (Calculation of loads, Static analysis, Fatigue analysis, Damage-Tolerance analysis, and Vibration analysis) using classical techniques and Boeing tools to determine the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
· Evaluate structural integrity of test articles and hardware by way of classical hand calculations and finite element method.
· Supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify that systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
· Generate documentation to report analysis and test results to support certification/qualification.
· Support Gated Reviews to validate the quality and completeness of work packages.
· Continuous learning ability to understanding best practices in analysis and methodologies.
· Investigates failures and analyzing improvements
· Coordinate with Program Engineering (Project, Design, Manufacturing, etc.) to ensure safety of designs.
· Provide periodic update on project progress, quality metrics, project summaries, and other related documents.
· Familiar with regulatory framework (FAA and Mil-Spec), for warranting safety and regulatory compliance
· Researches and prepares data to support definition of structural design requirements.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
· Experience in structural analysis of various airframe structures.
· Possess knowledge of aircraft structure, materials strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processes.
· Understanding of engineering fundamentals such as material properties, Free-body diagrams, structural loads and analysis methods.
· Knowledge of appropriate customer or governmental regulations relevant to design, test, and certification.
· Demonstrated experience in performing classical hand analysis and finite element analysis.
· Experience with static analysis, fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
· Understands aircraft structural design and configuration development.
· Experience in utilizing FEM software (e.g., ABAQUS, PATRAN/NASTRAN, Hyperworks).
· Experience or training of computer programming languages (e.g., Matlab, Python, Visual Basic).
· Experience in utilizing industry CAD systems (e.g., NX/Teamcenter and CATIA/ENOVIA)
· Candidate demonstrates excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Good verbal and written communication skills to liaise with several Stakeholders
· Ability to work across functional teams and organizations.
· Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Mechanical/Aerospace/Automobile or equivalent Engineering Bachelor degree and 5 to 9 years of work experience in stress analysis or a Master’s degree and 4 to 8 years of work experience in stress analysis.
