Job overview

Thegrio is looking for a daily entertainment video production assistant who can work closely with producers to support our slate of entertainment contentThe ideal candidate should be experienced in research, pitching ideas, reporting, and coordinating logistics for field production are major responsibilitiesThis candidate will pull video assets including sots and vosThey will also work to clear footage and provide breaking news supportThey should be highly organized, respond to requests, manage archives, have a firm understanding of rights and clearances, and thoroughly track sources of material for licensing.

Responsibilities:

Consistently demonstrate a strong understanding of thegrio’s voice, brand and mission.
Execute as a team player who is capable of clearly communicating with key stakeholders.
Collecting, editing and maintaining content for use by the entertainment team.
Manage and routinely update guest tracking data systems.
Creative editing both for narrative, interactive features, and special initiatives.
Supporting an achievable schedule for projects and milestones in coordination with managers.
Supporting the creation of treatments, participating in pitching, testing, troubleshooting, and updating the content production process.
Coordinate photography, editing, engineering, art, and design to complement editorial articles and video content for all platforms.
Ideate new immersive storytelling experiences.
Present all original, breaking and aggregated stories in an accessible and compelling style.
Aid in managing production resources.
Track performance against overall objectives.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and requirements.
Ensuring content meets the highest audio and video quality standards.
Consistently thoroughly track sources of material for licensing and record keeping.
Engaging in a healthy newsroom culture with high performance and quality commitments.

Education/requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required (journalism or communications preferred).
At least 3+ years of experience with all aspects of digital video production.
Project management expertise.
Experience with adobe premiere pro or final cut pro; familiarity with adobe creative suite programs, canva, etc.
Excellent communications and writing skills.
Dedicated team player who is open to regular feedback.
Excellent time management skills to meet regular production schedules; can multitask and work under deadline pressure.
Maintains ethical journalism standards.
Has a firm understanding of rights and clearances.
Highly detail-oriented.
