What you`ll do

Work with your editorial director and the science editor to create and implement a vision for vox`s science coverage, and make sure it meets a high threshold of excellence
Lead and guide an ambitious team of reporters
Assign, refine pitches for, and edit stories ranging in complexity from straightforward to highly complex
Ensure that the team is offering clarity on the most important policies, controversies, or news moments
Prioritize representing diverse perspectives and experiences in your team and their work
Work with the audience team, audio, video, and other editors across the vox newsroom to elevate the work across medium

Who you are

A deep understanding of and interest in climate issues, biodiversity, and science
A passion for helping a general audience understand the climate crisis and its impact on people`s lives
An ambitious appetite for strong, distinctive work
A knack for managing writers
High editorial standards
Strong time management skills and the ability to effectively balance priorities
A desire to grow your skills as a leader
