Summary
The systems engineer is a technical role that is responsible for the design, development, implementation, support, maintenance, and optimization of our customers’ infrastructureThe systems engineer focuses on evaluating customers environments and implementing project work individually and with support of the systems engineering teamAdditionally, the systems engineers will also lead the resolution of the most complex critical outages for our customers as escalation support related to servers, storage, and other technical equipment this role utilizes documented customer procedures, itil best practices, technical skillsets, and soft skills in order to provide an excellent customer experience through systems implementation and optimization.
Primary duties and responsibilities
Review customer environments, evaluating interface between hardware, software, operational, and performance requirements of customer’s overall environment
Supports high quality systems architecture, and drive activities that are aligned with requirements and consistent with architectural standards
Provide technical mentoring, assistance, and direction to systems team, ensuring technologies work together effectively to improve systems performance and that change requests are implemented
Collaborates with technical and non-technical project resources to evaluate project scope and ensure successful completion
Deliver billable project work for vology customers, including migration and implementation work
Lead the resolution of highly complex issues escalated by systems engineering team; proactively identify problems before they occur
Participate as a technical lead in customer meetings to review performance, identify opportunities for continuous improvement to make environment more secure, efficient, and optimized for cost and performance
Documents customer environment, issues, communications, steps taken to resolve issues or complete project, and provides current status through servicenow
Documents and follows standard processes and procedures including change management processes, escalation processes, notification processes, ticket documentation, and customer issue resolution processes
Provide on-call support for escalated technical issues
Education — experience — skills
Certifications: microsoft365 enterprise administrator preferredOther acceptable certifications are: az-104, ms-500, az500, ms-100 combined with ms101 or md100 combined with md101 and at least 5 years working as a systems engineer or equivalent job role.
Highly organized with the ability to execute on multiple technical projects simultaneously
Highly advanced technical experience with setup and deployment of infrastructure environments, customer user cases, and operational understanding of enterprise-level systems, servers, storage, networks a managed services environment
Advanced technical knowledge and experience in the following areas: operating systems and domain architecture, networking, virtualization, security and authorization, multi-factor identification, disaster recovery, server management, azure active directory and active directoryMigrations, admt and exchangeIntune and autopilotDatabase administration or linux are a plus.
Self-starter; uses an appropriate sense of urgency and has capability of resolving complex technical problems and requests both independently and collaboratively with a team.
Willingness and desire to continue advancing technical expertise through collaboration with engineers and architects, and pursuit of technical certifications
Ability to educate, train, and mentor others on systems technologies
Have highly advanced communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)
Ability to follow and document standard processes and procedures
Ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment, maintain a positive attitude, and quickly adapt to changing priorities and new technologies
Ability to work assigned shift and on call rotation
