Job description
The application support group prides itself in keeping the applications and systems of visa up and running to cater to the 24*7 needs of the businessAs part of the team, you will be responsible for supporting critical applications and ensure the stability of the applications by performing the code deployment in production and client testing environment, engage in automation activities, do root cause analysis and remediationThe role requires working knowledge of production support processes such as incident/change/problem management, call triaging, escalation procedures and suchThe role will also demand the ability to write and maintain scripts to monitor system activity including application smoke test activities during pre and post production implementations.
Responsibilities
Responsible for core visa application support runs on mainframe batch processing involving petabytes of data.
Work with vendors, different teams to perform root cause analysis, and identify permanent solutions to fix problems as needed
Review and validate change install plans and strictly adhere to the processes and guidelines relating to change, incident, and problem management
Lead and collaborate problem bridges with others from different functional and technical areas and escalating as needed to resolve problems in a timely manner.
Automate processing and ensuring timely execution, delivery, and availability
Responsible for identifying knowledge gaps and providing technical guidance to team members as needed
Provide updates and contribute to the team’s knowledge repository
Identify improvement opportunities, and build automation as well as engaging in performance tuning and data fixing activities
Participate in to capacity planning activities.
Build and enforce code standardisation.
Flexibility to work in shifts and during weekends and extended hours when needed.
This is a hybrid positionHybrid employees can alternate time between both home and officeEmployees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office three days a week, monday (sunday in some countries where sunday is the start of the week) and wednesdaysWednesdays are designated as in-office collaboration daysThe third day in the office will be decided based on team needs and determined in partnership with senior leadership.
Qualifications
Overall exp 8 to 13 years with exposure on support role
Hands on experience on mainframe technologies (cobol, jcl, vsam, mvs, c/c++, ca endevor, file-aid)
Very good knowledge and hands on experience on c/c++ runs on mvs.
Experience in assembler is a must
Good to have experience with shell scripting, java scripting and any other scripting languages.
Experience with application support organization working in 24*7 environments.
Good communication skill and ability to work as team player.
Strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn is a must.
Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, application design, and implementing major components for large projects.
Knowledge of monitoring tools, alert escalation, customer / vendor management etc.
Build tools to automate production support activities that enable efficiency and productivity of service desk and other operations groups.
Job holder must have flexibility to work in shifts and during weekends and extended hours when needed.
You must have strong self-motivation, sense of ownership and ability to retain focus under stress during crisis situation.
You must have strong business ethics, self-discipline and trustworthiness to handle sensitive confidential data in live production environment
A bachelor`s degree in engineering or computer science or a related degree.
