The office of the vice provost for research & scholarship, office of research administration has a job opportunity for a srGrant assistant (accounting) to work at the coral gables campus.
Pay range: $39,000.00 – $46,000.00, commensurate with experience
Core job summary
The srGrant assistant (accounting) supports a robust grant and contract portfolio, and ensures pre- and post-award requirements are metMoreover, this position acts as a liaison for faculty and staff to various central support officesThe srGrant assistant works independently in aiding and monitoring of sponsored agreements from award set up through closeout while adhering to university, state and federal policiesThis position plays an important role in post-award administration in providing support to ensure proper award setup, budgets, allowable expenses, cost transfers and effort reporting.
Core job functions
Performs post-award functions, including award setup, budget distributions, expense monitoring, labor distribution transfers and associated communications with customers, and re-budgeting.
Interfaces directly with sponsors, the office of research administration, the office of research compliance, the irb, iacuc and other related um entities.
Review and approves payroll accounting adjustments and associated communications with customers, re-budgeting.
Review and approves expense transactions and journal/cost transfer entries to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Maintains regular communications with departments and communicates with fiscal contacts at funding source for problem resolution and information gathering.
Supports the sponsored programs department in education and training of principal investigators and administrators; assesses needs and resolves issues of the principal investigator related to grants accounting; performs analysis and support for projects.
Ensures high quality and efficient service to the research community.
Provides assistance to manager in the planning and implementation of innovative customer service initiatives.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations related to research administration, including the uniform guidance, cost accounting standards, federal acquisition regulations, and major federal funding agency guidelines

Core qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalentAssociates in business, finance or accounting preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experienceUniversity research administration experience preferredAny appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
Knowledge, skills and attitudes:
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations related to research administration, including uniform guidance, cost accounting standards, federal acquisition regulations, and major federal funding agency guidelines.
Excellent computer skills and facility with using ms excel (sorting, pivot tables, filtering, basic formulas).
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills, ability to translate and summarize numbers into an understandable narrative to others.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals and in both oral and written form.
Demonstrated experience using institutional systems.
General knowledge of office procedures and operations.
Skill in data entry with minimal errors.
Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence.
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
