About the national hemophilia foundation (nhf)
The national hemophilia foundation (nhf) is dedicated to finding cures for inheritable blood disorders and to addressing and preventing the complications of these disorders through research, education, and advocacy enabling people and families to thriveLearn more at hemophilia.org!
The srAccountant i will perform general accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to recording, reconciling, and reporting of ap, ar, payroll, accrued and prepaid expenses, bank reconciliationsPerforms financial analysis of assigned grants and contracts ensuring that assigned accounts managed in accordance with gaap standards and regulatory requirements for the nonprofit industry, agency accounting procedures and internal control.
Assists with all monthly journal entries including investment, prepaid, accruals, fixed assets depreciation, a/r and some costs allocationMaintains related excel spreadsheets.
Assists with account receivables (ar) invoices, applies cash receipts, and monitors a/r open balances.
Monitors all credit card transactions using bank and expense software; assists in recording it to the accounting software while learning nhf’s policies and procedures.
Assists with preparation of all supporting schedules for payroll, pension, and fringe benefits.
Assists with preparation of the credit card and bank reconciliations.
Assists with preparation of various ad hoc financial reports that are needed for timely monthly, quarterly and year end close processes.
Analyzes assigned general ledger and balance sheet accounts to ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and proceduresIdentifies accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
Prepares and files irs 1099 forms.
Assists with the preparation of the organization’s tax returns.
Assists in monthly closing including journal entries as necessary and preparation of reports and schedules.
Assists in financial year end closing, annual audit, and annual budget process.
Manages fixed assets account.
Assists with analysis of programs/classes and account codes, authorizations and approvals, adequacy of documentation, mathematical accuracy and legitimacy of expenses in all accounting applications.
Assists with implementation of nhf’s internal control procedures.
Assists with preparation of reimbursement requests, correspondence and expenditure reports for grants and contracts.
Prepares, analyzes monthly financials and supporting schedules for the assigned programs/classes for review

To qualify for this unique opportunity, our ideal candidate should have the following experience and education:
Bachelor’s in accounting and 3+ years accounting experience required including financial reporting, computerized g/l systems and account analysis preferably for nonprofit organizations.
Knowledge of computerized accounting software.
Attention to details and accuracy, planning and organizing, information and task monitoring, problem analysis.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines is required.
Must be pc proficient and able to thrive in a fast-pace setting.
Must have advanced knowledge of microsoft excel.
Strong interpersonal, and customer service skills are required.
Thorough knowledge of gaap, advanced accounting procedures and principles, nonprofit industry standards.

Where you will work:
This is a remote role and the candidate can be based anywhere in the u.s; the ideal candidate will have comfort working remotely with a team located throughout the u.sThis position requires travel 3-4 times a year, to conferences, events, and meetings as requested by the manager of accounting.
