Role – senior accountant i, revenue accounting

Responsibilities

Work on month-end revenue closing activities including, but not limited to, reviewing non-routine revenue transactions, performing accounting assessments, preparing accurate journal entries, reconciliations, data analysis, reporting disclosures, documenting revenue conclusions and ad hoc requests
Review software and software-as-a-service (saas) sales contracts for compliance and revenue implications under asc 606
Assist with ad hoc analyses of revenue and billing
Maintain internal control documentation and assist with revenue process development
Help in the internal and statutory audit
Assist and support revenue manager in interpreting contractual language to advise on and apply proper application of accounting policies under asc 606
Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for various revenue accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to gaap
Identify actionable insights and suggest recommendations to address issues and improve accounting processes/efficiencies
Partner closely cross-functional to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices, automation, and continuous process improvements
Should have sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices and demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

You must have recently been a revenue accountant or the assistant revenue manager for a company in the software space

Must have a cpa/ca and a bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a related field

Minimum of 4 years of experience in a corporate finance environment, ideally including 2-3 years of experience in revenue accounting of software and cloud-based offerings
People working with big 4 will be a plus

Experience in sap/hana 4 is a plus
Must have a good understanding of asc 606

Strong experience with ms office suite, particularly excel

Should be ready to work in flexible working hours to support the monthly closing activities and any adhoc requests, if any
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
