About the role
We are seeking a data operations specialist to work as a cross-functional team member between our business intelligence, data engineering and product teamsIn this role, you will work closely with the department leaders to understand the organization’s data infrastructure and reporting needs and develop a plan to empower the entire organization with dataYou will be responsible for operationalizing the creation of data pipelines from third party applications into our data warehouseOctave is a full-stack behavioral health services company: we employ therapists, contract with insurance providers for reimbursing care, and run our own tech stack to support across the businessWe are a technology-enabled service provider working to increase access to mental health care for insured people in the usAutomation and strong systems are the lynchpin for enabling scale and driving access for more people to get care.you would be the first dedicated data operations specialist joining a small, growing (and well-funded!) teamThe team is distributed across the us and has varied backgrounds, from education to fitness, advertising, travel, and healthcareThe role is virtual, with the opportunity to work in person in san francisco in the future.this role reports to the bi manager.
Essential responsibilities:
Continually improve our data quality:
Own internal and external communications regarding data pipeline additions and changes
Collaborate with our third party applications to facilitate the creation of data pipelines that directly feeds into octave`s data warehouse
Work closely with business intelligence, data engineering and product teams to ensure accurate and efficient data pipelines
Troubleshoot and identify issues within our third party applications and translate system bugs into operational impact reports for the rest of the business
Operationalize our third party application data pipelines:
Create data and technical specification schemas for internal systems from third party applications
Develop uniform processes that actively contribute to octave`s data pipelines
Implement best practices for creation and iteration for data pipelines
Be a thought partner to impact our data `world`:
Strategize and prioritize data integrations in collaboration with team members
Help set our third-party vendor data pipeline goals and provide a roadmap for internal stakeholders
Make recommendations on additional data vendors that actively contributes to octave`s goals of supporting its full-stack behavioral health services company
Experience, skills, knowledge and/or abilities
2+ years of experience working with technical & business stakeholders
2+ years of sql fluency
Knowledgeable about data structures (i.e., json, key-value, relational data)
Strong communication skills
A knack for asking the right questions, then answering them with sound data and analysis
Additional preferred experience
2+ years building and maintaining data pipelines
Python fluency (specifically building apis)
Knowledgeable about data transfer protocols and data transformation
Familiar with varying functions within the healthcare system including finance, hr, clinical and client experience
