The role

The senior attorney will join an experienced and collegial law department that provides high quality legal work product, advice, and support in furtherance of the company’s purpose and goalsThe work will be varied and challenging, offering a unique opportunity for exposure to an array of legal, regulatory, operational, and technical areasThe senior attorney will be an individual contributor who works independently under the supervision and with the support of the assistant general counsel – network.

The main responsibilities

Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of contracts primarily related to the procurement, maintenance, and utilization of public and private rights-of-way and other rights necessary to provide communications and network services (e.g., municipal franchises and licenses, dot agreements, easements, relocation agreements, joint use contracts, railroad crossing agreements, tribal right-of-way grants)
Research and analyze relevant laws, regulations, and risk factors to provide timely, balanced, solution-based advice to network and right-of-way teams
Help investigate and resolve network-related disputes (e.g., trespass, damage, delay, breach of contract claims)
Actively engage and collaborate with clients and other business support organizations (e.g., government relations, risk management, regulatory, tax) to create solutions to complex challenges
Perform other duties as assigned

What we look for in a candidate

Law degree from aba-accredited law school and membership in good standing of the state bar in the state w the attorney is located
Minimum of 4 years of relevant legal practice experience
Meaningful experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts
Experience in some or all of the following areas is a plus: public and private rights-of-way (e.g., private easements, municipal rights-of-way, public utility easements), pole attachments, internet/telecom technology contracts, advising network engineers, telecommunication utility regulation
Commitment to personal and professional integrity and respect for others
Roll-up-your-sleeves attitude and low-ego approach
Flexible and adaptable
Skilled in working effectively with remote personnel
Responsible, respectful, resourceful, and efficient
