Job summary:
The quality assurance automation manager refines and implements a strategy to ensure best practice in automating maintainable testing solutions that support delivery teams and company needs and objectivesThey are responsible for management of a small team of qa automation members residing across the countryThe automation manager maintains ultimate responsibility for informing stakeholders of automated qa disposition of all applications, and ensuring that application changes are supported with required quality assurance processes.
This role comprises technical excellence, industry best practice, and strong leadershipThe automation team will make kindercare’s investment in software automation a sustainable and easily maintained effort in 5 distinct software platforms including a web presence, new and legacy .net apps, a bi solution, and a salesforce implementation.
Key responsibilities include:
Management guidance:
Provides necessary definition, development and deployment of the automation strategy.
Development of the qa automation team – managing performance, hiring, talent developmentThis role will have direct reports of a lead and individual contributors.
Manages department expectations pertaining to setting accurate schedules, costs and resources.
Assists in ensuring delivery against qa department goals and objectives, meeting commitments and coordinating overall quality assurance schedule.
Assists in defining and implementing a quality roadmap across all software delivery teams
Process management:
Coordinate the build/maintenance of automated tests with a devops team.
Knowledge of build pipelines, ci/cd with quality and automation integration.
Maintains traceable product consistency throughout product lifecycle, to include the design, define and build phases.
Develops and manages automation team metrics for team performance improvement.
Champions ongoing quality improvement processes within all interdepartmental teams.
Project management:
Manages the planning and execution of product testing and resourcing efforts to help meet committed delivery dates.
Provides effective communication on issues, objectives, initiatives and performance to plan.
Works with project managers and scrum masters to develop project schedules and resource allocations for qa-related projects.
Responsible for measuring and reporting the quality of interdepartmental deliverables.
Organizational liaison:
Manages and responds to quality assurance issues with related groups such as development, business systems analysis and application support.
Communicates automation vision and strategy to leadership team
Quality management:
Assures the viability, functionality and effectiveness of essential tools.
Anticipates release and schedule problems and takes corrective action, escalating as needed, to resolve and achieve commitments.
Qualifications:

Required qualifications:
Bs/ba degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years’ software quality assurance experience, plus a minimum of 2 years in a management position.
Demonstrated experience in test planning, test design, test strategy, and test execution of highly complex systems.
Experience in leading and facilitating design discussions of test automation frameworks and tools across multiple product verticals
Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication and project management skills a must.
Strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect within the business while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner.
Must have a desire for achieving excellence in business satisfaction, team building, process and product quality and reliability.
Excellent at communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings to report on test progress, metrics, issues, and risks.
Strong understanding of software development life cycles and contemporary software quality assurance processes and automated tools.
Must have experience in managing and working with distributed team members.
Excellent english language skills.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience testing web technologies and services
Understanding of .net technologies, xml, js, css, and html
Experience in agile scrum, kanban and safe software development methodologies.
