Johnson & johnson announced plans to separate our consumer health business to create a new publicly traded companyThe process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 24 months, and it will be subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as required, and other customary conditions and approvals.

It is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, this position may be conveyed with new consumer healthIn that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to the successful candidate by new consumer health at an appropriate time and would be subject to any necessary consultation processes.

Position description:

The lead technology & it procurement counsel will bring key technical, legal, business, and transactional expertise to the consumer health law department and will be a key collaborator across the law department and its business functionsThey will be looked to as a leader and subject matter expert in the technology space and will support technology, it procurement and business clients on a broad range of technology-related legal issues and complex technology transactionsA positive attitude and the skills to work across business functions and cultures with teams located in multiple time zones, as well as the ability to act independently in a fast-paced and highly rewarding environment, is expected of candidates.

Key responsibilities:

Work with law department leaders to define the strategic framework and the overall support model for consumer health’s technology contracting and it procurement legal support
Provide legal support and advice to the consumer health technology and procurement organizations on technology-related legal issues
Draft and negotiate a broad range of technology agreements, including software and saas agreements, application development and maintenance agreements, data sharing agreements, infrastructure agreements, and telecom agreements
Manage one or more attorneys supporting our global it procurement functions by mentoring, training, goal setting, and providing performance feedback
Partner with the consumer health technology and procurement organizations to understand and analyze their business needs and drive appropriate technology sourcing and contracting strategies
Collaborate with the consumer health technology and procurement organizations to improve the end-to-end it contracting process, deliver legal and contracting training and playbooks, create, harmonize, and rationalize agreement templates, identify and adopt best practices and support process improvement initiatives
Serve as a subject-matter expert for law department colleagues and business partners in risk management, privacy, cybersecurity, litigation, compliance, and research & development / technology development roles with respect to technology-related contractual and legal issues

Qualifications

Position requirements:

A juris doctor degree and admission to the bar in good standing in at least one u.sJurisdiction
A minimum of 8 years of technology and procurement legal experience with a top-tier law firm or in-house law department with a strong emphasis on advising on technology, intellectual property, privacy, and cybersecurity matters and drafting and negotiating technology agreements, including:

Software and saas agreements
Application development and maintenance agreements
Data sharing agreements
Infrastructure agreements
Telecom agreements

Strong communication, leadership, relationship management, negotiation, and organizational skills
Excellent collaborative skills along with strong ethical leadership, including the ability to coordinate seamlessly with other consumer health attorneys, external counsel, business leaders, functional experts, and other advisors

Preferred competencies:

Healthcare and/or consumer products work experience
A positive attitude and the skills to work across business functions and cultures with teams located in multiple time zones, as well as the ability to act independently in a fast-paced and highly rewarding environment
People management experience
