IFPRI (International Food Policy Research Institute) Looking for Intern at New Delhi, Delhi Full Time

Background
The Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia (CSISA) was established in 2009 with a goal of benefiting more than 8 million farmers by the end of 2020. The project is led by the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) and implemented jointly with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). The current phase of CSISA (IV) continues through September 2024.
Context
IFPRI is looking to hire an intern for a period not exceeding 3 months to provide research support for the CSISA- Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia project in a broad range of areas, including literature review, data management, survey implementation, data and statistical analysis, and communication and dissemination.
Professional Growth and Development Opportunities
Under the guidance of* Research Fellows, the intern will join the IFPRI South Asia Regional Office*. The internship provides the opportunity to develop the following skills within the context of an international research and development organization:

• Knowledge on issues around agriculture and sustainable development goals
• Data analytical skills using primary and secondary data
• Learn about gender inclusive agriculture development policy processes, with a focus on inclusive subsidies, extension, and finance, for agriculture sector policy analysis

Responsibilities
Responsibilities for the intern would include tasks listed below, but not limited to:

• Identify and review relevant literature and agriculture development programs from journals and other online sources
• Collect and analyze secondary data on state and central government budgets, administrative data on agriculture mechanization, soil fertility management and fertilizer markets, and gender inclusive agriculture development programs.
• Organize, clean, and analyze data from other secondary sources to support senior research staff in their research design and analysis.
• Assist with development of research instruments and analytical tools; and develop associated model documentation and manuals
• Provide support in primary data collection for ongoing research projects included but not limited to conducting focus group discussions, developing case studies, data monitoring, and synthesizing learnings to be used in the future.
• Conduct research as advised, gather data (tables, charts) for grant proposals, infographics, and other materials.

Qualification

• Undergraduate or post-graduate degree, or equivalent combination of undergraduate degree and relevant experience
• Basic understanding of rural livelihood and agriculture related issues
• Strong writing and research skills, as well as basic analytical (quantitative and qualitative) skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with STATA (statistical analysis software)
• Good communication skills with the ability to write and present complex material in a compelling and engaging way
• Experience of working effectively to demanding deadlines
• Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to multitask, focus, and work effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently while establishing strong working relationships and taking direction from one or more senior research staff
• Ability to travel within India

Duration

• The internship duration is for 3 months

Physical Demand & Work Environment

• Would require sitting in an upright position for a long period of time
• Would lift between 0-10 pounds.

• Would be required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing computer terminal; extensive reading.
• May require travel within India
