Job Description: Sr. IT Administrator
As a Senior IT Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing the management, maintenance, and support of an organization’s IT infrastructure. Your role will involve ensuring the smooth operation of all IT systems, networks, and applications, as well as providing technical guidance and support to the IT team.
Responsibilities:
· IT Infrastructure Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, software, and networking components, including servers, workstations, routers, switches, and firewalls.
· System Administration: Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights across various systems and applications. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system resources.
· Network Administration: Maintain and support the organization’s network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks. Ensure network security, monitor network traffic, and implement necessary protocols and procedures.
· IT Support: Provide technical support and assistance to end-users regarding hardware, software, and network-related issues. Troubleshoot problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement appropriate solutions.
· Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption. Monitor systems for vulnerabilities and security breaches, and take necessary steps to mitigate risks.
· Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement data backup and disaster recovery strategies. Regularly perform backups, test data restoration procedures, and ensure data integrity and availability.
· IT Policies and Procedures: Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices. Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and security.
· Team Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to the IT team. Assign tasks, set performance goals, and conduct performance evaluations. Mentor junior staff members and foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
· Vendor Management: Evaluate and select external vendors and service providers. Negotiate contracts, monitor service level agreements (SLAs), and ensure vendors deliver quality products and services.
· Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, configurations, and procedures. Prepare reports, metrics, and analysis to communicate system performance, issues, and recommendations to management.
· Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure, including Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
· Proficient in virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), and backup and recovery solutions.
· Experience with security practices and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability scanning.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSA, ITIL) are a plus.
Proven experience as an IT Administrator or similar role, preferably in a senior or leadership capacity.
Familiarity with ITIL framework and best practices for IT service management.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
