Description
Hennepin county is seeking a senior cybersecurity security administratorThis position is a proponent and responsible for select tools used to support the cybersecurity posture of hennepin countyThey command the security incident response team, responding to and documenting threats and actions related to possible and declared security incidents.
The senior cybersecurity security administrator is expected to provide technical leadership and mentorship within the security operations team and security operations centerThey participate in the development of soc processes, documentation, tool selection and implementation.
The individual hired must continuously learn and adapt to an ever-changing risk landscape, stay current on changing security tools, tactics, techniques, and procedures, and help train and support junior staffThey must demonstrate a passion for the security area of information technology and be driven to protect hennepin county.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between january 2, 2022 to december 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.
Location and hours:
This position is remoteRemote workers may be required to come on-site an average of 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training)Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicableWork hours will be monday through friday, 8 a.mTo 5 p.m.
About the position:
This is a full-time, benefit-earning positionThis position is eligible to receive an additional cash merit of up to $2,325.83 that can be earned annually based on performance.

In this position, you will:
Lead the security incident response team on a rotational basis.
Provide technical leadership to the security operations center.
Serve as product/service owner for relevant it security tools and processes.
Provide technical leadership to and participate in relevant it security projects.
Train and support junior it security staff in the identification, analysis, and mitigation of it security risks.
Partner with the it security engineering and architecture teams to improve tool usage and workflow.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Bachelor`s degree or higher in computer science/engineering, or a related information technology field and three years or more of it administration or it network administration experience.
Associate`s/vocational/technical degree in an information technology field and five years or more of experience in information technology.
Seven years or more of information technology experience.
Nice to have:
Possess current relevant information security certification(s): sans gcih, gcia, or equivalent.
Experience:
With incident response.
Identifying threat patterns across large volumes of data.
Adapting new tools, including doctrinal development and support.
Coaching and training other staff.
Effective decision-making skills.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
