Full job description
As the staff accountant, you will support the accounting and finance teams by performing day to day accounting tasks, accounting analysis, and month end closing activities, with the goal of producing accurate financial statements while adhering to appropriate internal controls and meeting deadlinesThis position will also facilitate reconciliation between banks and various accounting software`s used in the organization.
Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries based on review of supporting reconciliations and schedules
Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
Assist in the accrual process for both recurring and nonrecurring expenses
Perform daily bank reconciliations and maintain schedules
Maintain the prepaid and accrued expense account and roll forward schedules
Update and maintain the fixed asset register
Review ap/credit card expense reports and general ledger detail for coding discrepancies and perform re-classes as needed
Work collaboratively with accounts payable and other accounting staff to ensure accuracy in financial reporting
Manage and maintain accounts receivable collection and reporting
Liaise with booking agents, merchant processors and franchisees as needed to ensure payment of outstanding amounts
Maintain record of gift certificates, credits applied, uncollectible amounts and future guest deposits
Reconciliation of property owner balances & statements
Maintain tax records and payments to municipalities
Assist with financial ratio analysis and kpi’s to support the business
Perform financial statement fluctuation analysis and other reviews, as needed
Assist with updating budgets/projections and automation of analytical reports
Maintain adequate internal controls within the accounting processes to ensure well documented, accurate and timely financial reporting
Provide support to streamline accounting processes and procedures to bring about process improvements
Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time
Other duties related to the management of accounting operations as required
Requirements
Bachelor`s degree in accounting/finance or business, or equivalent practical experience
Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting and/or financial analysis function
Experience working with accounting systems
Highly detail and deadline oriented with the ability to prioritize, focus and thrive in a high paced multi-tasking environment.
Strong verbal and written skills along with good interpersonal and organizational skills
Strong working knowledge of ms excel
Experience in the hospitality industry a plus
