Georgia-pacific is seeking a senior accountant to join our capital coe teamThis role creates value for the organization by providing capital policy guidance, understanding and communicating fixed asset changes, performing balance sheet account recons, and identifying transformation opportunities through process improvementsIn this role, you will partner with project managers, others in the controller’s group, operations, and project controls.
In this role, you will report directly to a manager of accounting for the capital center of excellence teamThis role can office directly from our gp locations in green bay, wisconsin or atlanta, georgia or may be worked remotely from a location in the central or eastern time zoneTravel to a gp location (including overnight stays) may be required for training/onboarding or to meet priority business demands.
Who we are: the capital coe team is currently comprised of 18 individuals (including 3 supervisors) in the united states and 3 individuals located in india.
What we do: this team supports capital assets, turnaround, and aro accounts across the entire gp organization.
How we work: everyone is expected to be an owner and entrepreneur of the locations and businesses they supportDirection to priorities and coaching will be provided to build capability, but the individual will not be micromanaged.
How you succeed: you will be successful by being self-directed, able to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlinesStrong critical thinking skills, clear communication, adaptability to change, and an affinity for data mining and analysis are key attributes that will be needed in this role.

What you will do in your role
This position will report to and assist the manager of accounting with accounting duties.
Cost analysis and review of project adherence to the gp capital policy to ensure financial statement accuracy and health
Partner with project managers, facility accounting, and corporate accounting to understand fixed asset and turnaround related impacts to financial statements
Understand and communicate accounting and process differences between businesses to drive controller’s organization to a onegp solution
Accounting support for fixed asset month-end closing activities
Aid other process and system improvement initiatives as needed
Exemplify market based management (mbm) guiding principles and drive profitable application of mbm and long term operational excellence
The experience you will bring
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, economics or related business field of study
Experience in an accounting or financial analysis role with an understanding of gaap, internal financial controls, and capital accounting principles
You will be a highly motivated principled entrepreneur with the ability to analyze gaps, team with partners to close them, and become a preferred accounting service
Experience learning new systems and improving processesYou will be an early adapter and advocate of transformation.
Experience with microsoft office suite or office 365; that includes intermediate or higher ms excel skills (spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, data manipulation/analysis and formula creation)
What will put you ahead
Familiarity with sap, infinium, hyperion, onestream, infor
Comfortable using tableau, qlik, or power bi to analyze data
Cost controls and forecasting for capital projects experience
Engineering, capital project, and/or manufacturing environment experience
Mba, project management professional or related advanced degree/certification
