The research data engineer will join in architecting our platform to support analytics and machine learningThis position will interface with researchers in biology, ai, genetics, embryology and biochemistry to aid in data collection, dataset curation and data wrangling from online sourcesThis role will also aid in establishing sops for dataset collection and storage for experimental work across many projects and disciplinesThis position reports to the vp of strategy.

**this position is remote with a preference for the dallas, tx location**

Duties and responsibilities:

Perform data wrangling, data curation, and data validation and serve as a liaison and technical support for research teams.
Co-develop requirements and support creation of infrastructure for tools to support data ingest, validation and dashboarding across platforms and organizations.
Lead efforts in collaboration with research teams to develop a data collection and data structure protocol.
Document data ingest processes and curation sops.
Identify, investigate and solve data quality issues on an ongoing basis
Produce data reports and write data release notes
Lead and contribute to efforts with community partners and scientists to develop and document data standards, including data quality and formats

Required skills and abilities:

Google cloud platform certification or equivalent cloud experience
Proficiency with python, shell scripting, iac, pipeline frameworks (e.gNextflow)
A people person with an ability to collaborate with users of different backgrounds
Bonus: linux

Education and experience:

Bs in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, or related quantitative field
Biology experience working in a lab environment with research scientists collecting data from various sources – omics, imaging, sensors, etc
3+ years of data science experience, with advanced knowledge of database design best practices
Experience working with relational databases, data warehouses, and big data platforms.
Strong analytical skills in relation to working with large datasets.
Analytical, highly motivated self-starter, with strong project management and organizational skills.
