Collins aerospace is looking for a supplier quality – special process engineer srThis position is for an experienced supplier quality & development professional with extensive experience with special processes (reference as9100 section 8.5.1.2)Will work as an individual contributor to achieve objectives that have a significant impact on area of responsibilityMay manage supplier quality & development processes and / or projectsUses special process experience and knowledge to influence supplier qualification / certification, assessment, monitoring, escape management, and quality issue resolution processesTypes of special processes include but are not limited to ndt, heat treat, welding, brazing, plating, coating, chemical processing, shot peen, grinding.
Location: remote – 100%
Primary responsibilities:
Oversees special process service providers` performance, primarily using the nadcap accreditation/certification program, and use of the rpn as calculated in the sqa database.
Works to make improvements and reduce the risk at high-risk processors by issuing corrective action requests, performing on-site special process assessments or audits, and/or other continuous improvement activities.
Plans, organizes, directs, and reports on subcontracted special process-related activities to assure engineering and quality requirements are met for special processesIncludes reporting on raw materials quality, special process service providers` performance, and laboratory testing
Conducts supplier qualification / certification, assessment, monitoring, escape management, and quality issue resolution regarding special processes.
Analyzes and makes recommendations on quality data and the development of part / supplier specific quality issue resolution and corrective actions.
Provides research on and explanations of root cause analysis & problem solving (8d or similar) for supplier causal analysisAssist in the development of corrective actions for systemic process and product design problems for product special processes provided by suppliers.
Reviews special processes and metrics and makes recommendations to ensure supplier is capable to meet all requirements for work transfer and process change management including resourcing gate and production part approval process (ppap) acceptance.
Manages supplier quality issues through monitoring / escalation processes, escape management, processing of supplier submission of non-conforming material and supporting internal mrb processes.
Initiates part specific quality issue resolution and corrective actions.
Supports supplier qualification / certification.
Analyzes quality data to identify systemic issues and develops supplier specific quality initiative strategies and addresses with key proactive quality tools (e.gPfmea, msa, process flow and control plans, spc, etc.), driving their implementation.
Basic qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience or
Advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience or
In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a u.sPerson/permanent resident “green card” holder
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in supplier quality special processes or materials and processing of at least 8 years
Materials, chemical, or industrial engineering background
Aerospace manufacturing
Lean methodology and implementation; asq green or black belt certification
Nadcap, as9100, sap experience
Exposure to complex materials systems and processes
Willing to travel up to 50%
