Full job description
Primary functions: the accounting director/controller plans, directs and carries out all financial strategy and controllership functionsThis individual is responsible for engaging with school management and personnel, and external service providers, on ongoing financial matters including but not limited to: (a) financial management, budgeting, forecasting and reporting; (b) banking and investment management relationships; (c) legal matters; (d) contracts; (e) insurance; , and (f) other duties as assigned by the president or board of directors.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
Develop and maintain a financial management strategy that effectively results in sound management of the school’s financial resources, depth of operating and capital reserves, and operational and capital liquidity.
Oversee the activities of the accounting staff concerning the following responsibilities:
Finance and accounting
Condominium associate support
Banking and investment management relationships
Develop and maintain effective relationships with banking and investment management organizations necessary to facilitate maintenance of appropriate bank operating and deposit accounts, credit facilities and other services, as deemed necessaryOversee the management of the investment of board designated funds available for specified or discretionary future useEvaluate such relationships on a regular basis, as deemed necessary.
Legal matters
Develop and maintain applicable relationships with legal service providers necessary to support the operational and periodic legal needs of the school in tandem with the president and principalParticipate in the negotiation of the terms of legal services as they are deemed necessary.
Contracts
Facilitate the second level review of key contracts entered into by cristo rey jesuit high school including but not limited to contracts related to: cwsp sponsorship; benefits services; outside vendor services; and personnel contractsPursuant to the legal matters responsibilities noted above, engage legal counsel in connection with contact reviews as deemed necessary or instructed.
Insurance
Working with the president develop and maintain applicable relationships with insurance brokerage providers necessary to support the risk management needs of the school and, as appropriate, the 4th & lake condominium associationParticipate in the negotiation of the terms of insurance policies and policy claims as they are deemed necessaryDirect the timely communication of the status of insurance coverages and claims to the finance committee of the board of directorsWork with human resources officer on the selection of employee benefit programs and on annual reviews and renewal of those programs.
Other duties as assigned
Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information and support the finance committee of the board of directors
Participate as a member of the administrative leadership team
Oversee the complete of the annual audit of the financial statements
Experience requirements
Seven or more years of experience in the execution and or oversight of key operations activities, as described above, of an organization that comprises not less the 50 employees.
Sufficient financial management experience in an organization that has an annual budget of approximately$10 million that substantively supports the ability to perform the duties as described above.
Evidence of effective interface with a board of directors or equivalent.
Cpa or equivalent certification
Completion of a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field of study.
Other matters
Flexible work arrangement — this position will be open to days working from home and in the office as appropriate to be effective and efficient.
Salary range: – $100,000-$120,000 commensurate with experience.
