Job summary will oversee daily operations in the department of materials science and engineering, and report directly to the department headThis position will provide overall leadership for the administrative staff withresponsibilities to include training and development, budget management, service center billing, external sales invoicing, budget journals, faculty meetings, and special projectsWork closely with the department head on annual budgets, reports, analyses and strategic initiativesMinimum education and experience
Bachelor’s degree and five years of related accounting and office management/supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred education and experience bachelor’s or master’s degree in related fieldAt least five years of experience in higher educationBudget management and leadership skillsEssential duties and responsibilities
Hire, train and develop administrative staff.
Ability to make decisions and delegate responsibility.
Attend division-level and university-level financial and hr meetings.
Communicate key information and process changes to the department.
Submit monthly journals and budget internal revenue for service centers.
Generate invoices and monitor payments for external revenue.
Work closely with business manager to monitor budgets and reconciliation compliance.
Collect data to prepare reports and analysis for special projects.
Schedule monthly faculty meetings and record minutes.
Work closely with the department to develop and implement strategic goals.
Coordinate newsletters and brochure publications for external relations.
Requires attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to receive and follow directions.
Must have excellent organization skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
Must be able to prioritize information to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Must possess a high level of integrity and professionalism.
Requires a thorough knowledge of university policies and procedures.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
